EVERETT, Wash., April 16, 2018 – Valence Surface Technologies (Valence), the world’s largest independent provider of aerospace product finishing services, announced today that it has received Boeing approval for a new, state of the art titanium etch line at its plant in Everett, Washington. The new line is designed to process large aerostructure components up to 12’ in the length, and high quantity orders, alleviating a major constraint in the aerospace supply chain.
Matthew Alty, VP Operations, explained, “We’ve seen a pressing need in the market for titanium processing, especially for growth programs like Boeing’s 777X and 737MAX. Valence already offers extensive titanium processing capabilities at our plant in Seattle (formerly known as Mapsco Inc.) including titanium etch and sol gel for parts under 5’. Based on feedback from our customers we have leveraged this expertise to offer much-needed capacity for parts up to 12’ in length.”
Following the installation of the new capability, Valence implemented an operator training program to transfer process knowledge and operating procedures from its Seattle facility, which culminated in the Everett site receiving Nadcap Merit accreditation and Boeing D1-4426 approval to process titanium per BAC 5753. Following the successful achievement of Boeing approvals, Valence is now preparing to add titanium processing approvals for Gulfstream, Lockheed, and other aerospace OEMs.
